I. Leaving the Seat in the Cockpit
ln a three man crew complement, a flight crew member can leave his seat and ask the
other two members to cover for him. Some major reasons for a cockpit crew member to leave
his seat is as follows,
-for biological reasons
-to check the wing before takeoff in times of snow
-manual extension of the nose gear
-to fight fire in the cabin or cargo compartment, make damage assessments and for
coordination of communication
-to cope with matters that the cabin crew cannot handle, such as the electrical and oKygen
Systems
However, in the case of a two man crew complement, if one man leaves the cockpit, the aircraft completely becomes a one man aircraft.
